Building off a full redesign just two years ago, the 2022 Subaru Legacy is one of the newest cars in the midsize sedan segment. Which Legacy does MatoCar recommend?

The Legacy Premium is our go-to selection if you want a lot of features but have an eye on the bottom line. For a modest increase over the base model, you get niceties such as an improved audio system, heated seats and USB ports in the back. This trim also offers a pair of reasonably priced option packages should you desire even more features. If your budget is a little more flexible, either trim with the turbocharged engine is a major upgrade.

The 2022 Subaru Legacy is a midsize sedan sold in six trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Limited XT and Touring XT. Non-XT trims are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine good for 182 horsepower. Those trims with the XT moniker get a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower.
