The Honda Accord has long been a front-runner for people searching for a well-rounded midsize sedan. This current generation debuted for 2018, and the 2022 Accord carries on with impressive refinement, comfort and fuel efficiency. Available with two turbocharged engines as well as a hybrid

So, yes, the Accord is one of our favorite sedans. But it's no longer at the very top of our rankings. The Kia K5, and its corporate sibling the Hyundai Sonata, both offer an abundance of features and long warranties. There's also the Kia Stinger to consider — it's got style and performance in spades — or even Honda's redesigned 2022 Civic. But on the whole, the Accord continues to be a smart pick. What's it like to live with?

The current 10th-generation Honda Accord has been a hit with MatoCar editors since it debuted in 2018. As a result, we added an Accord EX-L with the 1.5-liter engine to the MatoCar long-term test fleet and logged over 13,000 miles in a year. Which Accord does MatoCar recommend?

Honda hasn't released detailed official information on the 2022 Accord as of this writing. We'll update our recommendation if anything changes, but based on last year's Accord, the Sport SE should be the way to go. It has some extra features, such as keyless entry, leather upholstery and heated seats, that make it worth the price premium over the Sport trim. There's also the similarly equipped Sport 2.0T if you want more horsepower.

[Editor's note: The following information is based on last year's 2021 Accord. We expect the 2022 model will have a similar lineup and we'll update this section once we have complete information.] The Honda Accord is a midsize sedan available in six trim levels: LX, Sport, Sport Special Edition (or simply SE), EX-L, Sport 2.0T and Touring. Most Accords come with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine (192 horsepower) and a continuously variable automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. The Sport 2.0T and Touring receive a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (252 hp) and a traditional 10-speed automatic transmission. There's also an Accord Hybrid model that is reviewed separately.

Blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert (warns you if a vehicle is in your blind spot during a lane change or while reversing)
Front and rear parking sensors (alert you to obstacles that may not be visible in front of or behind the vehicle when parking)

Sport 2.0T This model is outfitted similar to the Sport SE minus the leather upholstery and power front passenger seat, but it gains the more powerful engine and traditional automatic transmission. It also adds:

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Wireless charging pad

Touring The top-of-the-line Touring is equipped similar to the EX-L but with the 2.0T engine and transmission. It also adds:

Heated outboard rear seats
Navigation system
Low-speed anti-collision braking (applies the brakes if a collision is imminent between 1 and 6 mph)
