The Chevrolet Corvette enters the third year of its stunning rebirth as a mid-engine sports car with exotic styling that instantly turns heads. Now that a few years have passed since its debut, has the formula grown at all stale? Heck no.

The Corvette offers a mind-bending package of quickness, handling and even comfort on the road. However, its biggest strength is the price, which undercuts several competing sports cars by a significant margin. New for this year is a race-inspired C8.R Edition package that pays tribute to the Corvette's motorsports success. But even base versions of this coupe are well equipped to compete against the likes of the BMW M4 and Porsche 911. Read the categories of our Expert Rating below to get our test team's full evaluation of the 2022 Corvette's performance, comfort and more.

What's it like to live with?

We bought a 2020 Corvette in the midlevel 2LT trim to experience ownership for ourselves. Are you shocked to know that the Vette has been in high demand among our editorial test team? Its combination of high-octane performance and surprising practicality has made the car a winner. But there have been issues with maintenance. Click here to read our long-term Corvette updates.

Which Corvette does MatoCar recommend?

The midlevel 2LT trim is the way to go for overall value. In particular, its standard heated and ventilated seats contribute to a more comfortable cabin, while the blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert makes it easier to know what's behind you. The optional front-end lift system is expensive but entirely worth it. As for the Z51 package, it's great if you're planning on tracking your Corvette, but otherwise feel free to skip it.

The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette is a two-door sports car, available as a coupe with a removable hardtop or as a traditional soft-top convertible. Its trim levels are the 1LT, 2LT and 3LT.
