The 2020 Rolls-Royce Phantom is one of the most opulent and expensive modes of transportation available today, with a base price that's more than double what some other large luxury sedans will cost you. And what do you get for your money? Exclusivity. Few vehicles on the road offer the same level of comfort, luxury features and customization as the Phantom. There's also a seemingly endless number of options offered on the Phantom, from custom colors for the paint or leather to personalized headrests and bespoke umbrellas.
The Phantom's most direct competitor is the Bentley Flying Spur. It's spacious and comfortable and offers a similar level of customization. There's also the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, the BMW Alpina B7 and a couple other models from Rolls-Royce itself: the smaller Ghost sedan and the Cullinan SUV. Even compared to those models, the Phantom feels special. If you're looking for rolling extravagance, it doesn't get better than this.
Which Phantom does MatoCar recommend?
How much legroom do you need? Since features and options are identical on both Phantom variants, you can't really go wrong with either. That said, we suggest opting for the Driver Assistance Systems package if only for adaptive cruise control. The 2020 Rolls-Royce Phantom is offered in two variants: the standard Phantom and the extended wheelbase (EWB). Both use a turbocharged 6.75-liter V12 engine (563 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque). An eight-speed transmission sends power to the rear wheels.
The standard Phantom and EWB models are appointed with the same features. These include:
- Adaptive air suspension that adjusts to road conditions
- Power-closing doors with concealed umbrellas
- Front and rear parking sensors (alert you to obstacles that may not be visible in front of or behind the vehicle when parking)
- Leather headliner with starlight-like illumination
- Heated and ventilated front seats with massage functions
- Rear bench seat
- 10.25-inch central display
