  • Launches the second QX60 generation for 2022

The Infiniti QX60 has been fully redesigned and finally enters its second generation for the 2022 model year. The first generation, which had been around since 2014 with minimal changes, was showing its age. After a 2021 hiatus, Infiniti brought back its luxurious three-row SUV with new tech, a modern design, more luxury, and plenty of advanced driver aids.

One thing that didn't change is the tried-and-true V6; it's a carryover from the previous model but it's now paired to a new nine-speed automatic transmission instead of a CVT. The powertrain provides brisk acceleration and fuel economy on par with competitors. Besides some road noise, the cabin is comfortable, and the third row is large enough for adult-size passengers.

The interior doesn't have the same quality as a BMW or Mercedes, but it's still impressive and on the same level as an Acura or Lexus. High-tech features and advanced driver aids are where QX60 takes a substantial leap forward for the new model year. Standard features include a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, Apple CarPlay (wireless) and Android Auto (cable required) integration, tri-zone automatic climate control, forward collision mitigation and rear automatic braking.

Infiniti's ProPilot Assist system (offering a bundle of advanced driver aids) comes standard on the Luxe trim and worked well during our testing. Optional features, including a head-up display, digital gauge cluster, wireless smartphone charging, seat massagers, and a 17-speaker Bose audio system, add to the QX60's luxury pedigree.

Cargo space is competitive, and so is towing. The QX60 maxes out at 6,000 pounds (all-wheel drive and towing package required). Additionally, the top Autograph trim offers superb luxury and unique features such as a removable rear center console and a black roof with black roof rails.

The QX60 has so much to offer with its much-needed redesign that it's now a strong rival to competitors like the Acura MDX, Audi Q7 and Genesis GV80.

Which QX60 does MatoCar recommend?

The base Pure trim has a lot to offer for the price, but we recommend going for the Luxe trim to get the remaining advanced driver aids (ProPilot Assist), the larger digital driver's display and front ventilated seats. For added tech, we recommend opting for the Vision package, which includes a head-up display, adaptive headlights and a digital rearview mirror.

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 is offered in Pure, Luxe, Sensory and Autograph trim levels. Front-wheel drive is standard on every trim, with all-wheel drive available across the lineup. The QX60 is powered by a single engine choice: a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. It's backed by a new nine-speed automatic transmission.

Below are notable features for each trim level:
