The BMW X4 is for someone who wants to drive something sporty but still have room for passengers and cargo. The X4 provides that along with more cargo room than a sedan, but less than the X3 it's based on because of the sloping roofline. Unlike many SUVs, the X4 handles well, although not as well as a sport sedan. If you need a lot of rear passenger space and cargo room, consider the more traditional X3 or larger X5.
The X4's potent engines and impressive handling dynamics back up its sporty looks, something that's not usually the case with sporty-looking SUVs. Light off-roading is possible thanks to the standard all-wheel-drive system. The X4 isn't alone in the segment — the premium fastback SUV competes with strong rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and Porsche Macan.
