Audi TT

You've got plenty of choices if you want a flashy sports car with wild styling and a boisterous exhaust note. Even when they're painted gray, these cars might as well be Arrest-Me Red. But what about something more subtle? That's where the 2021 Audi TT comes in. Its fastback shape is fairly unassuming, but underneath the restrained sheetmetal is a capable sport coupe or convertible with lively handling and weather-beating all-wheel drive.

It's true that this current Audi TT generation is getting on in years — it was last redesigned for 2016 — but it still holds up well compared to rivals such as the BMW Z4, Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster, and Toyota GR Supra. Audi fits the TT with a pleasing number of standard features for the price too. It's worth checking out if you're shopping for a well-rounded luxury sport coupe or convertible.

Which TT does MatoCar recommend?

Since the Audi TT only comes in one trim, your choices mostly boil down to the coupe or convertible body style and whether or not to spec the S Line Competition package. We recommend adding the 19-inch wheels with summer tires, which you can do without going full S Line. We think the TT is pretty fun to drive as it is, and the S Line's sporty suspension tuning might not be to everyone's taste.

The 2021 Audi TT is a small sports car available as either a four-seat coupe or a two-seat convertible (called the Roadster). Regardless of body style, the TT is sold in a single well-equipped trim level. The only powertrain is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system are both standard. If the TT's power output doesn't rev your engine, you can also check out the 288-hp TTS or 394-hp TT RS. Both are reviewed separately.
